Directing
Born May 19, 1929 · Dibër, Albania
Gëzim Erebara was a distinguished Albanian film director, screenwriter, and translator, recognized for his significant contributions to Albanian cinema. Born in Dibër, Albania, he pursued his passion for filmmaking by studying at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts from 1947 to 1951. However, due to political reasons, he was repatriated a few months before graduation by the then Communist Government of Albania. Upon returning to Albania, Erebara began his career at the state-owned "Kinostudioja Shqipëria e Re" in 1957, where he worked until 1986. His directorial debut was the film Fëmijët e saj (1957), which he co-directed with Hysen Hakani. Erebara's notable works include Vajzat me kordele të kuqe (1978), Fushë e blertë fushë e kuqe (1985), and Një jetë më shumë (1986). In addition to his filmmaking, he was also a translator and cinematography historian, contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape of Albania. Erebara passed away in Tirana on February 12, 2007, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence Albanian cinema.
