Edwin Luisi is a celebrated Brazilian actor whose career spans over five decades. Born in São Paulo, he initially pursued studies in art history and lived in France, where he also learned French. His passion for acting led him to the Escola de Arte Dramática at the University of São Paulo, marking the beginning of a prolific career in the performing arts. Luisi gained international fame for his role as Álvaro in the classic telenovela Escrava Isaura (1976), where he played the romantic hero opposite Lucélia Santos. This role cemented his status as one of Brazil’s leading heartthrobs of the 1970s and 1980s. Throughout his career, he has starred in numerous television productions, including Por Amor (1997), Uga Uga (2000), Mad Maria (2005), Paraíso Tropical (2007), and Na Corda Bamba (2019–2020). His versatility has allowed him to play everything from charming leads to complex dramatic roles. In theater, Luisi has performed in acclaimed plays such as Amadeus, Freud, and Eu Sou Minha Própria Mulher. He also appeared in films like As Alegres Comadres and Aleijadinho – Paixão, Glória e Suplício.
